PVC hoses are primarily made of polyvinyl chloride and are classified as flexible PVC products. Significant amounts of additives—such as plasticizers and stabilizers—are typically incorporated during manufacturing to enhance the material’s properties. Characterized by their light weight, flexibility, and low cost, these hoses serve as a common type of basic piping used in both residential and industrial applications.
PVC hoses possess a certain degree of corrosion resistance and are suitable for conveying water, air, food products and low-concentration chemicals that are weakly acidic or weakly alkaline.They are not suitable for high-concentration chemicals, which can damage the hose walls.
Under normal indoor water-conveyance conditions, they typically last over eight years. Exposure to direct sunlight outdoors, frequent bending, and operation under excessive pressure will shorten their lifespan. Regular inspection of the hose walls is recommended; avoiding prolonged sun exposure and contact with oil or chemicals can help extend their service life.
Cracking is generally caused by poor-quality raw materials, insufficient wall thickness, prolonged exposure to sunlight, or storage in low-temperature environments; operating the pipe beyond its rated pressure range can also lead to cracking. To prevent this, opt for thickened PVC pipes or switch to a different material.
