PU tubing is versatile, flexible at a moderate price point and suitable for conventional automation hardware. Nylon is Stiffer, has better chemical resistance and can withstand higher pressures. PU is used for general factory automation while Nylon tubing is suggested when controlling high-pressure applications or environments with oil and impurities.
Some of the causes for leaks are poor insertion into fittings, valve and material age or cracking, cuts from other sharp objects. Make sure the tube is cut straight, inserted all the way during installation; check tubing frequently and change it out immediately with hardening or cracking to avoid a system failure.
Standard PU and Nylon Pneumatic hose, is primarily for compressed air. Although some materials are capable of withstanding short periods of exposure to water, oil or chemical solvents (specialised fluid hoses should be used for transporting liquids), long-term transport of these components in such fluids is not recommended and will also rapidly lead to swelling and material degradation.
